Myra Nissen brings over 15 years of experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM), specializing in the identification, recovery, and documentation of cultural resources. Her fieldwork includes direct collaboration with American Indian observers and tribal representatives to ensure respectful, accurate, and regulatory-compliant recovery of artifacts and sacred materials. She has served as a recovery technician and field lab director, contributing to incident response teams managing cultural preservation during fire-related events and land development projects.
Myra holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology (UC Santa Cruz) and an MA in Environmental Studies (Prescott College), combining academic insight with field-based project management. Her experience supports emergency response efforts, especially when fire incidents or evacuations threaten culturally sensitive sites. She ensures stakeholder coordination, data integrity, and adherence to state and federal guidelines.
With a background in environmental sustainability and over 17 years in solid waste reduction, she has also led public education campaigns and managed multi-agency collaborations. Myra is a skilled communicator and planner, contributing to fire safety preparedness through cultural site protection and public outreach.
A 26-year resident of Benicia, Myra is currently a board member of the North American Society of Homeopaths and continues her work in health and environmental advocacy.
